Advocating for improvements and transparency within Redlands Christian School community

Advocating for improvements and transparency within Redlands Christian School community
The Issue
Formal Petition Requesting Board Engagement
Redlands Christian School and Arrowhead Christian Academy have historically been viewed as trusted institutions within our community. However, parents are increasingly concerned that persistent, systemic issues are diminishing educational quality, affordability, and student development. These concerns have not been adequately addressed through existing administrative channels. As a result, parents are formally requesting direct engagement with the School Board.
We respectfully call upon the Board to address the following three critical issues:
1. Declining Academic Rigor and Outcomes
Academic performance at our schools is no longer competitive with comparable private institutions in the region. Parents have observed inconsistent rigor, limited depth in core subjects—particularly math and science—and insufficient preparation for college and career readiness. This trend jeopardizes both student outcomes and the long-term reputation of the schools. A comprehensive, independently benchmarked academic review is required, along with a clear plan to restore academic excellence.
2. Escalating Tuition Without Commensurate Value
**The 2026–2027 tuition rates reflect an increase of 9.64% for high school/ 11.73% for middle school/ 9.58% for lower school, when comparing to last year’s tuition (which excluded the student fees) to this year’s tuition rates (which now include the increased student fee).
Tuition continues to rise at a rate that is increasingly disconnected from demonstrated improvements in academic quality, programming, or facilities. As stated on our website, 45% of families receive tuition assistance, totaling nearly $2 million annually—an unsustainable model that reflects a widening affordability gap. Parents are requesting full transparency into tuition allocation, operating priorities, and a strategic justification for continued tuition increases tied to measurable outcomes.
3. Chronic Underfunding of Athletics and Student Development Programs
Athletic programs remain underfunded despite their critical role in leadership development, teamwork, discipline, and student engagement. Current funding levels limit competitiveness, participation, and program stability. Parents are requesting a defined funding strategy, including budget prioritization, fundraising alignment, and community partnerships to support a balanced, whole-student educational experience.
Formal Request for Board Engagement
Given the scope and persistence of these concerns, parents are formally requesting a parent-led meeting with the School Board, independent of school administration, to discuss these issues directly.
This meeting should include designated parent representatives and Board members and result in clear next steps, timelines, and accountability measures. These matters rise to the level of Board oversight and fiduciary responsibility. Continued deferral or lack of transparency will further erode trust within the parent community.
By signing this petition, parents and community members are calling for direct Board engagement, transparency, and decisive leadership to correct course and ensure Redlands Christian School and Arrowhead Christian Academy deliver the academic excellence, value, and student development they promise.
