Gun violence is a huge problem in the U.S., causing many deaths as well as injuries that can lead to issues with mental and physical health .The U.S is also the the only country with more civilian-owned firearms than people due to many having legal and illegal access to them. Each year about 48,000 people lose their lives due to guns , many of them being young adults and children . As well as leading to 117 deaths each day which causes loved ones to suffer the death of their beloved one . Gun violence also affects the safety of many children’s education while they go to school , due to school shootings which takes innocent children’s life’s away. Gun violence causes people to feel pain , fear , and doubt of their safety, this shouldn’t have to be this way . This is why I created a petition that is about advocating the need of better laws that to make our communities safer. What needs to be improved or taken to place :

1.  Improving background checks for all gun purchases: This will help keep guns away from people with violent histories or mental health issues so that they won’t be able to harm anyone or themselves .
2. Restricting the amount of people that have access to assault weapons : Doing this can reduce the amount of life’s lost because these weapons are often used in mass shootings and are dangerous .
3.  Improving the amount of people having illegal access to weapons like guns or assault weapons : Doing this can help reduce the amount of people that have access to firearms that are dangerous .
