because Anna's Mother was murdered with premeditation by Wilbur Miller. He was abusive and extremely jealous of his spouse's friendship with Anna's Mom. He waited in a closet until they came home, and he shot Anna's mom and her friend. Anna’s mom died and her friend Ruth was paralyzed for life. He also later told police about his plans to kill Anna if she would have been there. Anna was only 8 years old at the time.
Please set a precedent in State of Illinois and show the world that you do not tolerate the murderous actions of abusive individuals who have no regard for human life. Send a message and do not allow Wilbur Miller to be paroled. Illinois Prison Review Board along with Chair Adam Monreal, you need to do what is right. Do not allow Wilbur Miller to kill again and make sure that he stays in locked away in prison. Honor Anna's Mother's memory and deny parole to Wilbur Miller.
Together we can take a stand against violence and murder! Anna's childhood was destroyed in a matter of seconds and she has been scarred for life as a result. Anna is a survivor and she has the support of thousands of people who love her family and have also been through the same situation. Be Anna's voice, be the voice of justice in Illinois for Anna's Mother, be the voice of the silent witness, and do not set this cold blooded murderer free. Do what is right and just.

A message from Anna via the petition on behalf of her Mother’s justice;
“The man who murdered my mother is one parole hearing away from freedom. 25 years ago Wilbur Miller savagely shot my mom as she pleaded for her life. We had just lost my father a year earlier, and all we had was each other. Despite her tearful appeals of having a young child who needed her, Miller pulled the trigger. In an instant I became an orphan at the age of 8. My childhood became a nightmare of murder trials and the realization that my mom wasn't coming home. I started this petition to make sure Wilbur Miller doesn’t get to go home either. I’m asking the Illinois parole board to deny Wilbur Miller early release.
After my father passed away, my mother and I moved to Grand Valley Village where she became close friends with our neighbor Barb Flynn. They looked out for each other and the friendship helped my mother get through losing my father. My mother quickly noticed Barb was in an abusive relationship with Wilbur Miller. He became jealous of their friendship and tried to keep my mother and Barb apart. Barb eventually broke off the relationship, leading Miller to threaten to murder my mother and Barb. Days later his threat became a reality.
On July 15th, 1990, Wilbur Miller entered Barb’s home while she and my mom were out for ice cream. He hid in a bedroom waiting for them to return. When they entered the house he emerged, catching them off guard. Words were exchanged and Miller pulled out a gun. He shot and killed my mom and paralyzed Barb from the waist down. Miller was arrested and admitted to everything, retelling the story of how my mother begged for her life and saying how he would have killed me too had I been there. He never showed remorse for his actions.
During Miller’s trial I had to take the stand. I had to face the man who took away my whole world. Today I’m doing it again. No amount of good behavior should erase the remaining sentence for a brutal crime that took away my mother. My beautiful mother was never there for life’s milestones. She never got to hold and spoil her grandchildren. My mother was shown no mercy and neither should Wilbur Miller.
Miller didn’t take away the memories of my mother. Those memories, the wonderful person who loved life and her family, are kept alive every day in my heart. Her memory is alive at every family gathering and holiday. It is in honor of her memory that I ask the Illinois parole board to deny Wilbur Miller parole. Please join my family in asking the same by signing and sharing our petition. Thank you.” - Anna Stevens
