The Issue

As a third-generation Palestinian American Muslim, I've watched in despair as my people endure blatant genocide silently. Witnessing the erasure of their existence is horrifying to say the least, and fuels my desire for peace and justice. The egregious violation of human rights taking place in Palestine has no place in our global society.

Plano, the city I call home, is known for its rich diversity and is home to a multitude of religions, cultures, and communities, including a significant Muslim population. We, along with all residents who value human life, stand together, united against this genocide, in the name of human rights, solidarity, and justice, and refuse to allow our dollars to support the Occupation.

This petition is my appeal to all residents of Plano to take a firm stand for human rights and join me in advocating for our city to become the second in the United States to boycott Israel – following in the footsteps of Hamtramck, Michigan. The aim is not merely to spotlight the Israeli government's transgressions but to build pressure for a resolution that respects humanitarian principles and international law and prohibits our city from funding this genocide.

Palestinian human rights have consistently been eroded in recent times, specifically in Gaza. Over 400,000 Palestinians have been killed in the genocide, food has not been allowed to enter for a month into the Gaza Strip, children are being beheaded, schools, mosques, hospitals are being bombed, journalists being targeted, people being burnt alive, and war crimes being committed day in and day out.

By boycotting Israel and cutting off all funding towards the slaughtering of the Palestinian people, we as a city could put significant pressure on international decision-making and set an example for cities across the country to stand up against human rights violations, wherever they occur.

Make your voice heard; stand up for justice and human rights for the people of Gaza and Palestine. Say no to our dollars funding this genocide. Sign this petition, and let's urge the city of Plano to boycott Israel. Together, we can be a force for change, it starts with us.
