Advocate for the Transfer of Women Bank Employees to their Home Places

The Issue

"The transfer of a dedicated women bank employee out of her home state has caused significant distress. Despite her commitment to her occupational duties, she is torn between her professional responsibilities and family obligations.

As a parent to a young child, she is concerned about their education and upbringing. Additionally, she plays a vital role in caring for other children in the joint family. Her elderly parents also depend on her for care and support.

This sudden transfer has put an enormous strain on her husband, who must now shoulder the family responsibilities alone. The challenges of balancing work and family life have become increasingly daunting for him."

Our predicament is shared by many families across the nation. As per the Reserve Bank of India, women comprise 24% of the banking workforce (RBI, 2019). The lack of a transfer policy ensuring that they can serve closer to home disrupts families and threatens the emotional wellbeing of children. Furthermore, studies have shown that children excel both academically and emotionally when both parents are present (Journal of Family Psychology, 2017).

This situation calls for immediate redressal. It is essential for an empathetic and rational transfer policy to be put in place for bank employees, with special consideration for women.

This petition implores the banking collective and the government to ensure an employee transfer process that minimizes disruption to spouses and children. We need to uphold the importance of a work-life balance that safeguards the emotional and educational development of our children and the well-being of our elders.

We request your signatures for this petition to advocate for a more family-friendly transfer policy within the banking sector. Your support will provide much-needed stability to countless families across the nation. So, please sign this petition to make a difference.
