Our beloved former president, Rodrigo Duterte, has always embodied the spirit of a leader who addresses crime robustly, ensuring that Filipino citizens can confidently walk the streets knowing their safety and that of their children is a priority. Despite being so far from home, our Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) speak volumes about Duterte's leadership through their continued support for him. Their commitment to our former president provides testament to his impactful leadership not only domestically but also amongst those abroad.

Yet, we find ourselves in a situation where our former president is unjustly detained. However, he is not a criminal, but a leader with heart and honor, the only president in the innovative history of the Philippines who genuinely dedicated himself to the fight against crime that has enabled us to safeguard our future generations. The love for Duterte amongst the Filipino people is undeniable and runs deep, given his demonstrated dedication.

For me personally, it was because of Duterte that I began to feel a strong sense of national pride and a yearning to contribute to the prosperity and wellbeing of our nation. His leadership has inspired many of us to strive to become better citizens, to uphold the virtues that he embodied during his presidency.

Therefore, we call on the International Criminal Court to transact with justice and fairness. To acknowledge the immense positivity Duterte has generated, and to recognize the deep-seated support for him amongst the Filipino population, both domestically and abroad.
