The Issue

My name is Jen of Saint Malo, MB, Canada and since January 2023, I have personally helped 43 stray cats get off the streets, spayed/neutered and found loving homes. But there are still many more out there who need our help.

Stray cats are a significant issue in our community. They face harsh weather conditions, starvation, disease and often meet tragic ends on our busy roads. Not to mention having litters outside in the extreme cold and hot.  These innocent creatures deserve better than this life of hardship.

It's time we take action to protect them. We need  bylaws that will ensure the safety and welfare of these animals. By implementing laws that penalize abandonment and encourage spaying/neutering pets, we can reduce the number of stray cats suffering on our streets.

According to Humane Canada (2021), there were an estimated 600,000 stray cats across Canada in 2019 alone - a number that has likely increased since then due to lack of effective legislation.

Let's make Saint Malo an example for other cities by showing how much we care about all members of our community - human or not. Please sign this petition urging local authorities to enact stricter bylaws protecting stray cats in Saint Malo. Your signature could save countless lives.
