I am a resident of Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija, Philippines and an ardent animal lover. It deeply saddens me to witness the plight of stray and abused animals in our city. These innocent creatures are often treated like garbage when they should be receiving care and love.

According to the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), there are thousands of stray animals across the country, many of which suffer from malnutrition, disease, or injury. This is not only a concern for animal welfare but also poses potential public health risks.

In addition to this, cases of animal abuse continue to rise. The Animal Kingdom Foundation reported that there were over 1,000 cases of cruelty towards animals in 2019 alone within our nation.

We need immediate action from our local government in Cabanatuan City to address these issues. We urge them to implement stricter laws against animal abuse and establish more shelters for strays where they can receive proper care.
