Advocate for Milton skatepark project, Delaware
The Issue
In the vibrant community of Milton, Delaware, the skateboarding culture has thrived for decades, building not just skills but bonds that have stood the test of time. We are a passionate group of individuals—ranging from skateboarders to BMX riders and inline skaters—united by our love for the sport and the invaluable life lessons it imparts. We believe that a dedicated skatepark would not just serve as a facility for recreation but would also function as a foundation for the continued growth of this community, offering a safe space to socialize, innovate, and hone our skills.
This is a pivotal moment for the Milton skate community. The Cape School District is hosting a meeting on September 28th, 2026, at 5:30 pm at H.O.B., inviting public input on how to transform a plot of school land. We see a golden opportunity to propose a multi-functional public space that includes a skatepark and pump track. Our vision is inclusive, catering not only to skateboarders but also accommodating scooters, BMX bikes, and inline skaters on a designated part of the property.
Building a skatepark will provide a regulated space for our youth and young adults to engage in physical activity. Skateboarding has been shown to encourage resilience and perseverance, qualities crucial in both personal and professional realms.
Not only do skateparks offer health and social benefits, but they also stimulate local economic growth. Towns with skateparks often see an increase in communal events, competitions, and a rise in visitors, all of which contribute positively to local businesses.
By signing this petition, you can help make a lasting impact on our community. We urge the Cape School District decision-makers to consider our proposal seriously. Let us create a legacy of an inclusive space that nurtures creativity, friendships, and personal development. Join us in turning this vision into reality—sign the petition and support the future of Milton’s youth.
