Advocate for Local Input on Patchway Sports and Social Club Facility Usage

The Issue

I am creating this petition as a born and bred Patchway boy recently returning to our beloved town. The community lives in my heart and its interests in my soul. Unfortunately, I notice a lack of coordination and cohesion regarding the services provided to our community. A glaring example of this is the future of the former Patchway Sports and Social Club building.

This building has historical significance and unlimited potential in shaping Patchway's future. Yet, local people - those who understand our hometown the best - are left wondering what its fate will be. This state of affairs is not ideal. We, the people, should have our say. Our opinions matter.

Around 36% of the population here in Patchway is under 24. Looking at these numbers, utilising the building for new and existing needed services could address various apparent and hidden community needs. There could be youth centres, elderly care services, educational workshops, or even a local jobs hub to reduce our town's 4% unemployment rate, which is slightly higher than the national average.

This petition calls for the setting up of a steering group, comprising locals, to advise the town and county councils about how best the old Patchway Sports and Social Club building can support these and more services. In this way, not only are we letting the local people share their ideas, but we are also encouraging them to utilise their environment.

Please, lend your voice to this important cause. Champion the call that says, 'locals know best' and let councils respect, value, and act on our insights. Our town should be more than just our place of residence; it should be a living testament to thought-out growth, supported services, and community input. Please sign this petition and help us usher in this new era for Patchway.
