I'm writing this petition not only as a crew member but also someone who feels the same struggles every day.

The current pay structure for crew members heavily relies on gratuities. Many crew members in tipping positions depend on these tips to make a living wage. However, an increasing number of passengers are choosing to opt-out of gratuities, leaving us in financial uncertainty. This issue is particularly prevalent on Caribbean cruise ships, where workers tirelessly strive to provide outstanding service despite this growing financial challenge.

Although cruise ship companies boast about the great experiences they provide, the backbone of these experiences - the crew members - are often left struggling financially. Instead of having our earnings heavily reliant on gratuities, which are inconsistent, cruise lines should establish a base salary that reflects the hard work and dedication of their staff. This change would not only alleviate financial anxiety for crew members but also improve job satisfaction and performance, ultimately enhancing the passenger experience as well.
