Demanding St. Andrews College Extend Pool Hours, Offer a Family Value Pass, Allow Rec Play

The issue

Join us in demanding change for the Peregian Springs Rec Club! St. Andrew's commitment seems to prioritize meeting the bare minimum contractual obligations of the sale, rather than truly serving the community, including extending operating hours and offering a family value pass—a departure from their Christian ethos. Their current commitment allows for only a two-year period of community access. We are worried that the cited low pool usage may be used as a justification for these restrictions, while in reality, it is primarily due to limited access and high costs.

A low pool usage claim doesn't paint the full picture. The heart of the issue lies in the exorbitant costs and restricted hours, with a meager three-hour window from 6am to 9am on weekdays exclusively for lap swimming. While we appreciate the recent inclusion of weekend access, it falls short in terms of inclusivity for recreational activities, limiting usage to lap swimming only. Turning the baby pool area into a deserted space or an expensive decorative water feature

But the concerns don't end there. Troubling rumors circulate about the potential conversion of the land into a church, greatly unsettling local residents. Additionally, the pool's condition is subpar, evident by pervasive rust and the grounds left neglected and overgrown.

In light of these pressing concerns, we can't turn a blind eye to the rising problems of youth crime and nuisance behavior in our community. An accessible, affordable, well-maintained recreation center could provide a constructive solution, channeling the energy and talents of our youth positively.

The current financial crisis faced by many families only amplifies the urgency for action. We're urgently appealing to St. Andrew's Anglican College to expand pool hours and reevaluate pricing, ensuring that every member of our community can access this essential resource. Together, let's collaborate to build a safer, healthier, and more inclusive environment for everyone in the Peregian Springs Community.

  • Ensure continued community access to the pool.
  • Limitations on pool access hours and high membership costs are unfair or detrimental to the community.
  • Restrictions of "lap swimming only" hinders the community's ability to use the pool especially on weekends and school holidays
  • We need positive changes and improvements to the community's recreational facilities.
  • We support efforts to address rising youth crime and nuisance behavior. A well-maintained recreation center was a valuable asset for the community. We request reconsideration of affordable access and extended operating times for our youth to have constructive, fun & healthy activity options.
  • Show solidarity with your neighbors and community members who share these concerns
  • Create a safer, healthier, and more inclusive environment for everyone in the Peregian Springs community
