The temporary closure of Main Street in downtown Louisville in recent years has given our town a greater sense of community and has been an amazing demonstration of how our community thrives when residents and businesses come together.  The outdoor dining and gathering areas created by closing Main Street brought people together and brought patrons to our downtown businesses, many of which have been struggling to survive these last few years as a result of the challenges imposed by COVID and the Marshall Fires.  Residents, visitors, and businesses who have enjoyed the street closures over the last few years say that the closures have been some of the best of times.  This summer, we have an opportunity to foster stronger community ties and thriving businesses once again by temporarily closing Main Street to vehicular traffic from April to November. 

We're not asking for a permanent closure but rather a temporary one - just for 2024 and just for the summer months when outdoor activities are at their peak.
