Fix Moline High School Student Parking Lot.

Fix Moline High School Student Parking Lot.
The Issue
I am writing this petition to address a pressing issue that affects countless individuals in Moline High School. As a student who relies on parking facilities at our local school, I have personally experienced the frustration and inconvenience caused by the deteriorating condition of our parking lot. It is disappointing to see our money used for parking passes not go towards what we’re parking on.
The purpose of this petition is to urge the authorities responsible for managing our school's parking facilities to prioritize fixing the potholes. By allocating a portion of the revenue generated from parking pass sales towards repairing these potholes, we can ensure safer and more efficient use of our designated parking spaces.
Potholes not only pose a threat to vehicles but also jeopardize pedestrian safety as people navigate around them. They can cause damage to tires, suspension systems, and even lead to accidents if drivers swerve unexpectedly or lose control due to sudden jolts caused by hitting these potholes. Overall, pedestrians are at risk when trying to avoid these road conditions.
1. According to an article published in The Dispatch-Argus*, Moline has been facing an increasing number of complaints regarding pothole-ridden roads over recent years.
2. The American Automobile Association (AAA) estimates that pothole-related vehicle repairs cost drivers across Illinois an average of $300 per year**.
3. A study conducted by TRIP*** found that poorly maintained roads contribute significantly towards traffic congestion and increased commute times.
By addressing these issues head-on through proper allocation of funds collected from parking pass fees, we can enhance safety for both drivers and pedestrians. Additionally, this initiative will help preserve the value of our vehicles, reduce the financial burden on students and faculty caused by pothole-related repairs, and improve overall traffic flow within our school premises.
I kindly request all concerned individuals residing in Moline along with students who go to Moline High School, to support this petition by signing below. Together, let's make our voices heard and ensure that the money we invest in parking passes is utilized effectively to maintain a safe and functional parking lot for everyone.
Thank you for your support!
