The Issue

            West Sussex Self Advocacy Consortium needs your help!

West Sussex County Council have made the decision to stop funding Self Advocacy support and Community Advocacy giving only  3 months’ notice with no consultation.

This means that both Community Advocacy and the 6 Self Advocacy Groups for adults with Learning Disabilities and Autism will stop entirely on the 30th Sept 23.

Impact Advocacy group provides crucial support to over 450 vulnerable people a year across West Sussex with learning disabilities, autism, physical disabilities, sensory disabilities and acquired brain injury. Our service means that hundreds of vulnerable people are helped to;

•                 have a voice in matters that affect their lives

•                 secure their rights

•                 represent their interests

•                 obtain the services they need

•                 find out about and access groups and services in their local area

•                 tell the people who make decisions about services what work

         What people say about Advocacy -

  • “I can tell (my advocate) more than I can my social worker, she has helped me get a new one. My learning and understanding has grown so much and my confidence which was really bad has now got so much better”
  • I had no money, I had to go to the food bank, now I have my benefits back”
  • Being part of a self-advocacy group gives me the chance to be on a committee and helps me feel important

    Please sign the petition if you want to try and save advocacy  services in West Sussex.
