Advil take down anti-breastfeeding advertisement

Advil take down anti-breastfeeding advertisement
The Issue
Advil has posted an extremely offensive and uneducated advertisement with misinformation about breastfeeding. It states "Humans Breastfeed their babies an average of 3 months. First tooth appears between 4-7 months. Coincidence? We don't think so."
Not only is their statistic about humans feeding their babies INCORRECT, it is sending a loud message that children should not be breastfeeding after they have teeth.
In the UNITED STATES, the average baby is breastfed for 3 months. This is much, much lower than the rest of the world, due to many factors, especially the lack of support from those around them. This advertisement could make a woman second guess the wonderful job she is doing breastfeeding her baby because of a faulty statistic and poor "joke" on behalf of mothers and babies.
The WHO (World Health Organization) states "Exclusive breastfeeding is recommended up to 6 months of age, with continued breastfeeding along with appropriate complementary foods up to two years of age or beyond."
They are not saying to stop nursing when your baby has teeth.
Please remove this insensitive and incorrect advertisement. Advil needs education and to support breastfeeding mothers no matter what age their babies may be. We are owed an apology.
