I would like to share the good news that Adventist Health has posted a public written policy explaining that they are fully opting out of assisted suicide. This policy apparently will apply to all Adventist Health facilities in Washington, Oregon, California, and Hawaii. The statement can be found here: https://www.adventisthealth.org/sonora-regional/pages/patients-and-visitors/end-of-life-option-act.aspx
As you all know, this outcome took hard work, patience, and lots of perseverance! Thanks to all of you for standing with me and believing in the cause.

This is a huge victory in grassroots activism. It is easy to feel that you are just one person and are no match for large and powerful institutions that have their own agendas. But this is example of how courage and dedication can pay off and we can make an impact if we refuse to give up our personal power!
It is my sincere hope that this campaign will be an example for what others can do in their local communities to provide greater protection against the dangerous End of Life Option Act. There are other health care providers that have yet to issue "opt out" policies with this level of detail. So if you don't know what the policies are of the providers in your local area, do your research and take action if you are not happy with what you uncover. Remember that no policy or a weak policy is an open door for doctors to choose killing.
And, of course, policies such as this one are only protective if they are actually enforced, so it is up to us to make sure that there is follow through.
And it goes without saying that the best protection against the dangers of assisted suicide is for each of us to educate ourselves about ways that laws can be abused and to do what we can to advocate for those who may not be able to advocate for themselves. Be proactive about sharing what you know with your friends and neighbors, and if you see something that does not seem right, speak up and stand up for justice!
