Unnecessary and dangerous netting has been placed around the football pitch in Manor Hall Park. This has resulted in large numbers of birds becoming trapped and distressed, and this morning we believe there have been casualties. 

We understand this netting has been placed there simply to stop people using the facilities, but in the meantime it is a major hazard to local wildlife. Local residents would like to see this netting removed and a wildlife friendly solution saught. It is simply not acceptable to leave it in situ. 

Manor Hall Park is a hive of wildlife, many birds live, feed and roost there, in dim light the netting is not visible to them and is of such a size that they easy become trapped and entangled. Whilst we appreciate that the owner(s) wish to protect their interests, we believe, not at the cost of living creatures.
