As a believer in the rich diversity that makes up our world, I am often astounded by the lack of representation of these diversities in various sectors of our lives. One such overlooked area is the representation of "Big Tex" at the State Fair Of Texas. For decades, Big Tex has been a vibrant symbol of our annual Texas State Fair, yet he does not encompass or reflect the variety of ethnicities that exist within our community.

Texas, well known for its large cultural melting pot, is home to a population where 58.3% are of different ethnicities (source: United States Census Bureau). In view of this, it is of paramount importance that our emblematic Texan cowboy - Big Tex, reflects this multicultural aspect of our society - making everyone feel included and acknowledged.

We urge the State Fair Of Texas committee to remodel Big Tex as a rotating representation of various ethnicities, symbolizing the beautiful diversity of our community. This change will serve as a powerful affirmation of our commitment to inclusivity, dignity, and respect for all Texans.

Transforming our icon is no small feat; it will require concerted effort, resources and willingness from all board members and supporters. However, the impact this change will create is immeasurable and the message it will send, formidable.
