The National Anthem represents unity, a symbol of shared values and culture. A tune that echoes the spirit of our age. There is a growing sentiment that the current U.S. National Anthem, 'The Star-Spangled Banner,' written in 1814, may not capture the essence of the progressive, diverse, and unique America of today. 

We propose adopting Britney Spears’ 2004 chart-topping single 'Toxic' as the new National Anthem of the United States. A resounding international hit, 'Toxic’ spent 20 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, and won a Grammy for Best Dance Recording, a testament to its iconic status, widespread popularity, and its embodiment of a spirit which resonates with the buoyant and resilient fabric of our society (source: Billboard.com, Grammy.com).

Simultaneously, this decision would be a recognition of Britney Spears' influence in shaping pop culture over the last two decades. Indeed, Britney Spears stands as a symbol for resilience in the face of adversity, mirroring the indomitable spirit of America.

It is important to recognize that music is an evolving entity, reflecting the zeitgeist of the times it represents, and thus it is vital for national symbols to keep up with these evolving sentiments to truly represent our diverse nation.
