The Issue

Our current flag is outdated.. and frankly.. ugly.. (no offense to this great state) and it also just- breaks nearly every rule but one. On flag design rules

Living in Michigan, I know firsthand the pride we Michiganders feel for our state. Yet, when I look around, I rarely see our state flag being flown. The current Michigan state flag, while steeped in history, doesn't resonate with the modern era. It feels outdated, and let's face it, it's not something many of us find visually appealing or relatable. We've often chosen to showcase other symbols that we feel more connected to.

In recognizing this, I took the initiative to design a new Michigan state flag, one that embodies our state's spirit with a touch of modern elegance. The design simplifies the existing emblem while respecting its traditional elements. The two stars prominently featured on the flag symbolize our beloved Upper and Lower Peninsulas. Maintaining the "Tuebor" shield, this design is both a nod to our rich history and a step towards modern admiration.

Many other states have taken steps to modernize their flags, and it is time for Michigan to be at the forefront of this movement. A state as beautiful as ours deserves a flag that we can fly with pride, one that people from all walks of life can look at and say, "That's Michigan—strong, unique, and forward-moving." Together, we can push for a change that reflects who we are today and who we aspire to be in the future.

Join me in petitioning the state government to adopt this new flag design for Michigan. Let’s show our pride with a flag that truly represents our great state. Sign this petition and let our voices be heard! Together, we can fly a Michigan flag that we're all proud of.
