Hygienist Face the Greatest Coronavirus Risks. 

This petition is to limit non-necessary dental procedures to stop spreading COVID-19.  

All non-essential and elective dental services should be suspended immediately. Only emergency dental procedure should continue..

The Dental Hygienist’s Professionals are concerned about practicing and putting their patients, communities and staff at risk. In addition, many health care providers in community settings have not been able to secure a reasonable supply of PPE that would be required to actively treat COVID-19 cases. There is literally a mask shortage.  

Why should we see any patients for prophys, perio-maintenance, scaling and root planing with the amount of aerosols we produce? It is our understanding that the incubation period can be up to 14 days. Isn’t it possible that we could be spreading this virus to every patient we see and our families? 

These factors along with a spike in new cases and the call for effective social distancing, make it clear that bold action is required. We also demand to get compensated. 

Canada passed a law on COVID-19 Pandemic for dental health care. United States should come together and do the same.
