Clarification of Goals (Should SDSU stand by their decision to remain online)

Of course the main goal of this petition is to get SDSU to reconsider their decision to go online for the beginning of (and perhaps the remainder of) the semester. But should SDSU stand by their decision to move online there are other student concerns which should be addressed. 

1) Students who are urged by SDSU not to return to the on campus housing should not be forced to pay for empty rooms. 

SDSU's email discourages students not to return to their on campus housing before February 6th, yet it seems SDSU will still be charging them for the rooms they seek to empty. 

2. Extend the class add drop deadline beyond Feb. 2

By the time Feb. 6 rolls around SDSU may or may not extend virtual learning. But given the add drop deadline date, students will already be locked in paying for a full semester of classes regardless of whether or not a significant portion of the semester is online. Students should be able to decide whether they wish to pay for a semester that may be largely if not entirely online. 

3. Should a significant portion of the semester be online, SDSU should drop the expensive cost of tuition. 

We as students certainly should not pay the same price for online learning as we would for in person learning. The expensive price of tuition is often justified by both exceptional instruction and an exceptional experience, both of which will be deprived largely by moving online.
