Small businesses already know the struggles of encouraging people to come downtown. Implementing a strict paid parking system will directly hurt small businesses and as a city without a robust public transit system, this move will hurt those who want to enjoy what our downtown has to offer. 

Without a public transit system that "works" for all and by charging parking in our downtown area with no low-cost alternatives, people will struggle to justify coming downtown and enjoying Wichita. 

Cities with bustling main streets, such as Lawrence and Kansas City, have found equitable ways to implement paid parking, while also offering a free alternative to those who want to enjoy downtown at a low-cost. 

Wichita, we know you can do the same! Sign to let our public officials know that we deserve not only an accessible public transit system and alternatives to driving, but free parking areas until that is achieved.
