Address Vehicle Collisions and Speeding on Carlson Blvd.

Address Vehicle Collisions and Speeding on Carlson Blvd.
The Issue
We, the undersigned residents of Richmond and El Cerrito, request that immediate action be taken to address the serious public safety hazard that spans Carlson Blvd. between Central Ave. and Sutter Ave. This stretch of road has a long history of fatal and injury inducing motor vehicle incidents. Within the last several months, multiple collisions resulting in property damage have occurred where Carlson Blvd. intersects with San Jose Ave. and El Dorado Ave.
Vehicles including AC Transit buses routinely exceed the posted 30 mph speed limit. With limited visibility at each intersection along Carlson Blvd., we are concerned for our safety. Previous attempts to limit incidents have not been successful (i.e. digital speedometer signs).
This has been a well known, documented, and longstanding problem, and we request that your respective jursidictions take immediate action to keep our families, friends, neighbors, children, pets, pedestrians, and fellow commuters safe.
