Living in Canvey Island, Essex, has always been a delight with its picturesque views and close-knit community. However, Sydervelt Road has become a concern for me and many residents. The speeding and unconsidered parking along this road has led to numerous accidents and, heartbreakingly, several incidents where our beloved pet cats were run over.

The safety of our children and other road users is paramount. Each day, parents worry as their kids walk to school or play outside. The threat of speeding cars is real and ever-present. Sydervelt Road, which should be a safe and welcoming environment, is instead fraught with danger.

The statistics speak for themselves. In the past year alone, local data indicates an alarming increase in traffic-related accidents on our road. Our neighborhood's safety record is deteriorating, and immediate action is necessary.

What we propose is realistic and necessary: Installing speed bumps, implementing clearer signage, and designating specific parking areas to create a safer environment for everyone. These changes can greatly reduce the risk of accidents and ensure that everyone, from children playing outside to adults commuting, feels secure in our neighborhood.
