Address the Poor Garbage Management in Sion Koliwada, Mumbai

The Issue

As a resident of Sion Koliwada, Mumbai, Maharashtra, the neglect given to our local garbage bin is appalling and significantly impacting our life. The dustbin, which resides on this main road, has become a source of foul smell and environmental pollution because it is not properly managed by local government officials. During the rainy season, the situation exacerbates, leading to water clogging issues that make roads almost unusable.

Moreover, the decomposing garbage isn't only uncomfortable to live with but poses a serious health risk too; especially for children, elderly and individuals with existing health issues. This is a call to all government officials to take decisive action towards improving the garbage management system in our area. According to a study by the Central Pollution Control Board, poorly managed garbage contributes to about 12.5% of air pollution in major Indian cities.

The current neglect clearly doesn't reflect our community's needs nor does it respect our rights to a clean and healthy environment. Immediate action is required to resolve this issue affecting our daily lives and health. We call on our government officials to put larger, regulated garbage bins in Sion Koliwada and to ensure regular garbage pickup. We plead for the sake of our environment, our health, and the future of our area. Please join us and sign this petition today. Save Sion Koliwada from becoming a health hazard due to improper garbage management.
