Address the High Cost of Living and Hardships in Azad Kashmir

The Issue

I was born in Azad Kashmir, a region known for its natural beauty but currently plagued by economic hardships. The people of my homeland are struggling daily with the high cost of living, including basic necessities such as electricity and all-purpose flour.

The situation is dire. According to a report by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), more than 50% of households in Azad Kashmir live below the poverty line. This statistic is not just a number; it represents families who cannot afford basic necessities, children who go to bed hungry, and parents who work tirelessly yet still struggle to provide for their loved ones.

Pakistan buys electric from Kashmir for Rs 2.59/unit and sells it back to Azad Kashmir for Rs 59/unit.

Which is against the constitutional article 157 and 161.

there is 20% line loss of electricity, and Free electricity for government employees is another major injustice.

Electricity shortages are another major issue. Power outages disrupt daily life and hinder economic progress. It's not uncommon for homes and businesses to be without power for up to 12 hours a day.

Furthermore, the price of all-purpose flour has skyrocketed due to supply chain disruptions caused by political instability. This staple food item has become unaffordable for many families.

We cannot stand idle while our fellow citizens suffer these injustices. We urge local authorities and international organizations alike to address these issues urgently - implement policies that will alleviate poverty, ensure reliable electricity supply, stabilize food prices, and ultimately improve living conditions in Azad Kashmir.

Please sign this petition if you believe everyone deserves access to affordable necessities like food and electricity regardless of where they live or their financial status.
