Address Meta's unfair AI bans across florida

The Issue

I want to share my personal experience with Meta's AI-driven bans that have had significant consequences for myself and many others in Florida. My personal account, which I used primarily to connect with friends, share memories, and generate some side income, was unjustly terminated with no warning or recourse for recovery. As someone who relies on these platforms, the fear of losing my actual business account, which is crucial for my livelihood, is overwhelming.

Meta's platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, are central to many of our digital lives, supporting not only personal expression but also businesses and community support networks. However, the recent trend of arbitrary account bans enforced by AI algorithms without any human oversight or support is becoming increasingly detrimental. These platforms are not only cutting people off from their digital memories and support groups, but are also affecting Florida's economy by disrupting businesses that rely on these platforms to reach customers and make sales.

Moreover, these bans often carry stigmatizing allegations such as nudity or child sexual exploitation, tarnishing the reputation of innocent individuals without a chance for them to present their case. This lack of transparency and accountability from Meta is unacceptable, especially given the absence of any real human customer support.

Currently, there is only AI support for those who pay for Meta's premium subscription services, sending people in loops with no real solutions or answers. This is causing thousands across the US to take it up with small claims court to get any help at all.

It is imperative that lawmakers in Florida step in to address this unlawful and damaging practice. We need new regulations that ensure transparency, due process, and the presence of human oversight in moderation decisions on digital platforms. Specifically, Meta should be required to provide real human customer support and clearer paths for appeals and recovering accounts.

By signing this petition, you will be urging Florida's legislators to advocate for policies that protect its residents' digital rights and business operations. Let's stand together to demand change and accountability from Meta, ensuring that the digital spaces we cherish are fair and responsibly managed.
