The Maybrook section of the Empire State Rail Trail is in urgent need of maintenance. Without immediate action, this miles-long section will deteriorate to an unusable level within a year, effectively leading to its abandonment. We urge the State, Metro-North Railroad, and Dutchess County to collaborate and resolve these issues promptly. This trail is a vital resource for our community's recreation and transportation needs. Please sign this petition to ensure that it remains safe and accessible for all users. Just over a year ago this last section of a 750 mile trail network was completed to great headlines.

Now is stands on the verge of abandonment because of a maintenance disagreement between the railroad and the counties.

Signing this petition will demonstrate to those parties and the State Parks Department just how valuable this is to the community and worthy of the efforts required to resolve the maintenance issues.
