I live near the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Bowmansville, PA and I’m witnessing a troubling pattern that is drastically affecting the quality of life in our neighborhood. Commercial trucks are consistently parked illegally and idling for long periods near our homes, despite clear "No Parking" signs. This issue is not only disruptive but directly affects our health and safety.

The constant engine noise and diesel exhaust are unbearable. The drones of engines continue throughout the day and night, disrupting sleep and causing distress to residents. Moreover, the diesel exhaust settling over our village poses significant health risks, contributing to respiratory problems and a diminished quality of life.

According to Pennsylvania’s anti-idling regulations, this activity is illegal. These laws were enacted to protect citizens from exactly the kind of pollution and environmental health hazards we are experiencing. Despite this, enforcement seems to be lacking, and the issue remains unresolved.

Our community demands immediate action to address this ongoing situation. We urge the local authorities and the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection to implement measures to strictly enforce the anti-idling laws. This could involve increased patrolling of the area, installing monitoring systems, and imposing fines on violators.

A buffer zone should be established to shield our village from these dangerous living conditions. Effective barriers or sound walls could mitigate noise pollution and redirect exhaust fumes away from residential areas.
