Every night in Edmonton, my peace and safety are shattered by the roar of engines and the screech of tires as cars and bikes race dangerously through our city streets. Streets like Henday, Terwilliger, Whitemud, and 75 Street become race tracks, especially from 10:30 PM onwards. The noise is deafening, and the threat is constant. My sleep is disrupted, and I live in fear of waking up to news of an accident or worse, a tragedy.

This issue is deeply personal to me because I, like many others in our community, am affected not only by the unbearable noise but by the potential danger that this reckless behavior poses. It's incredibly frustrating to feel powerless while witnessing this kind of disregard for our community’s safety and peace every single night. It's time we take action to reclaim our streets and ensure they are safe for everyone.

The lack of police intervention is concerning. Despite the frequent disturbances, it often seems like the problem is ignored. We need an immediate response from local authorities to address this issue proactively. Increased patrolling and stricter penalties for those found speeding or creating excessive noise could deter this dangerous behavior. Installing more speed cameras and noise monitoring systems at known hotspots could also help control this escalating issue.

Our call to the Edmonton City Council and law enforcement agencies is to prioritize the safety and peace of our community. By implementing measures like dedicated night patrols, zero-tolerance policies on illegal racing, and community awareness campaigns, we can significantly reduce these dangerous incidents. Let's urge our leaders to take swift action.

I invite you to join me in signing this petition. Together, we can demand change, hold our leaders accountable, and restore tranquility and safety to our neighborhoods. Sign this petition and help us reclaim our community’s peace and safety.
