Address coyote issues in our neighborhoods

The Issue

Living in our beautiful neighborhood has its perks, but the growing coyote problem is threatening our sense of safety and community. Like many of you, I am deeply invested in the well-being of my family and my pets—a devotion reflected in the playful barks of my small dogs and the gentle purrs of my cats. The thought of them falling victim to a coyote is a constant source of anxiety that haunts me every time I hear the eerie howls at night.

Reports of aggressive coyote encounters are becoming frequent in our area. They not only menace our pets but pose a real threat to our children playing outside. According to Wildlife Control, coyote populations can increase by as much as 15% annually if not properly managed. The lack of action from the city council on this increasingly urgent issue is troubling and demands immediate attention.

We need proactive and humane solutions to protect our community from these unwanted encounters. The city should deploy wildlife management experts to conduct a thorough assessment and implement strategies such as the relocation of coyotes, educational campaigns on how to coyote-proof properties, and increased nocturnal patrols in high-risk areas.

Other cities have effectively reduced coyote incidents through similar measures; they serve as models indicating that this problem is manageable if addressed correctly. We need to unite as a community and urge the authorities to act now before it’s too late.

By signing this petition, you’re joining a cause to safeguard our children, pets, and peace of mind. Let us bring this issue to the city council’s attention and work towards a safer neighborhood for us all.
