In Haines City, FL, the residents of our neighborhood are facing significant challenges due to ongoing construction on Carl Boozer Road. Each day, we're directed to use a dirt road that is neither maintained by the construction company nor by the city. This has become a source of immense frustration and daily inconvenience for all of us.

I am speaking on behalf of my entire community. Driving on this neglected road is not only difficult but also costly. In today's economy, owning and maintaining a vehicle is expensive. Personally, I pay $500 a month, not including insurance, for a vehicle that I struggle to keep clean. Beyond cleanliness, I am constantly worried about the wear and tear caused to my tires and vehicle alignment, and the risk of getting stuck. The negligence in addressing our concerns feels especially disheartening because if this were a gated community, we believe these issues would have been addressed swiftly. Our day-to-day travels have become burdensome as no one seems to prioritize making our commute safer and more bearable.

Our neighborhood deserves the same attention and care that any other part of the city would receive during such construction activities. We are not asking for much—just a reasonable, cared-for path to travel on during the construction period. This can be achieved by ensuring that the alternative dirt road is properly maintained and made safe for daily use.

We urge the authorities in Haines City and the responsible construction company to take immediate actions to maintain and improve the condition of the detour route on Carl Boozer Road. This would not only ease our daily commutes but also uphold the standards of safety and respect that every resident deserves.
