I’m reaching out because something needs to change. My son gets bullied every single day on the school bus, and he comes home crying. No child should have to go through that just to get to and from school. I know my child is not the only one facing this issue, and it's time for the Houston County School Board to take action.

Bullying on school buses creates an unsafe and distressing environment for our children. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, 1 in 5 students report being bullied. The confined space of a school bus makes it even harder for kids to escape their tormentors, causing undue stress and anxiety before they even arrive at school.

The Houston County School Board needs to implement specific policies to ensure our children's safety on school buses. This includes appointing bus monitors, providing training for bus drivers to handle bullying situations adeptly, and installing surveillance cameras to deter and respond to bullying episodes effectively. Moreover, by conducting regular workshops for students about empathy and bullying prevention, we can foster a culture of respect and kindness among our children.

As parents, we entrust our children to the care of the school authorities every day. It's imperative that the Houston County School Board protects our children during their commute as well. Let's stand together to demand a change that ensures the safety and well-being of our kids on Rehobeth's school buses.
