The Issue

My stepchild has faced relentless bullying, not just from peers, but shockingly, from staff members within Coleman Independent School District (ISD). We have personally witnessed this mistreatment by staff members occurring blatantly in front of us, leaving us deeply disheartened as no substantial actions or consequences have been implemented to protect him or prevent further incidents.

This is not an isolated case. Many parents within Coleman, TX, share similar heartbreaking stories where their children have been bullied by other students and, at times, mistreated by the school staff who are supposed to be protectors and mentors. Yet, despite numerous complaints and concerns raised, these issues are consistently swept under the rug, creating an unsafe school environment.

Bullying in schools can have severe, lasting impacts on children, affecting their emotional well-being, academic performance, and overall future. According to the National Center for Educational Statistics, more than one in four students report being bullied during the school year, which can lead to depression, anxiety, and behavioral issues.

We cannot stand by while our children suffer in silence. Immediate action must be taken by the Coleman ISD Board of Education and, if necessary, the state, to establish and enforce a zero-tolerance policy against bullying and staff misconduct.

We urge for comprehensive staff training aimed at recognizing and effectively addressing bullying situations to ensure all students have a safe learning environment. Moreover, Coleman ISD should hold accountable those who fail to adhere to these standards, whether through retraining or termination, to ensure the safety and well-being of our children.

We call upon parents, educators, and concerned community members to raise their voices and demand that the Coleman ISD take decisive action to protect our children by signing this petition. Let us stand united in our fight to create a safe educational space for every student in Coleman, TX. Sign now to make a difference in our schools!
