Add Triceratops, Apatosaurus, and Stegoceratops in a Future Season of Chaos Theory

The Issue

As a dedicated fan of the Jurassic Park / Jurassic World franchise, I have seen every movie and tv shows. Such as both the Netflix animated series Camp Cretaceous and Chaos Theory.

However, something lacking in these animated series has been the absence of Triceratops and Apatosaurus, two iconic dinosaurs revered not just within the franchise but universally. It felt odd that two dinosaurs we've seen in the first two Jurassic World films were absent in Camp Cretaceous . Even though we saw a location from the films which included  both dinos. Which was Gyrosphere Valley.

While it's very possible they were cut due to budget cuts or to have other species take their place.

While they were mentioned (like the Triceratops being namedropped by Darius and being seen in the junior novelization of the first junior novelization of Camp Cretaceous Season One) and seen very briefly ( the Apatosaurus is seen briefly in a stampede in Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous: Hidden Adventure). It was strange we didn't get to see them in Chaos Theory. But we did get them in some way (sort of). The footprints Darius Bowman avoided was confirmed to be Apatosaurus in the tie in junior novelization of Chaos Theory Season one. As for the Triceratops, it appeared on a sign of a dinosaur crossing and on a piece of cloth at Bobby Nublar's Dino place (This was an image of the original 1993 Triceratops by Stan Winston Studios ). Since they have an Apatosaurus from Hidden Adventure and reuse a Nasutoceratops model for the Trike. With only the head of the Trike being made to complete the look. It seems like the easiest fix. This could finally even give us the long awaited Triceratops vs Tyrannosaurus Rex fight everybody has been wanting to see in the Jurassic franchise onscreen. Since everyone has gotten really tired of the T rex vs large therapod trope in the franchise. It would be a fresh of breath air for it to be done onscreen. Also since this fight has been in the fossil record , it would be even great to see done.

Echoing this sentiment are innumerable fans across the globe, their fascination with these magnificent creatures uniting them in a shared sentiment of longing. A report from ThoughtCo cements the enduring popularity of Triceratops and Apatosaurus, finding them to be among the top ten most recognized dinosaur species (ThoughtCo,2024).

Furthermore, many fans, including myself, have yearned to witness the Stegoceratops, a hybrid that was initially slated to appear in the first Jurassic World film but was eventually cut. Due to Colin Trevorrow listening to his son to cut the hybrid because it would ''ruin the Indominus Rex". Even though it wouldn't since the Stegoceratops would have been in only one scene and it would be the first herbivorous dino hybrid onscreen. The toy of the hybrid dinosaur was already made and they even had a CGI model from Legacy Effects. The hybrid did end up making an appearance in the final film but only on a computer screen. Which even confirmed its existence with the text "Final Result". Thus confirming its cut scene happening offscreen. With it also being a popular hybrid in Jurassic World the game and both Jurassic Evolution games. Since the films have been going away from dino hybrids. But continuing hybrids in the animated series with the Spinoceratops and the Scorpius Rex.

It'd be a HUGE missed opportunity if they didn't put it in the successful sequel series Chaos Theory.  Since they already have a model of the Nasutoceratops and the Stegosaurus. All that would have to be done is to combine both to make a model of the Stegoceratops. Not only would it save money for the animators but it'd also be a simple solution.

Simultaneously, we understand the franchise's dedication to diversifying its dinosaur portfolio with each entry ( and utilizing underused species ). Yet, we believe the inclusion of both the Triceratops and the Apatosaurus to appear in animated form should not be brushed aside. But also finally revealing the Stegoceratops onscreen would finally confirm the hybrid's existence. Since it was cut from appearing in the first Jurassic World film ten years ago. We are owed an appearance of it that isn't in a non-canon video game / mobile app game. But in something canonical.

Other fans have also gotten a bit tired of always having Sinoceratops and Nasutocertops taking the Triceratops' spotlight. Most notably in Jurassic World Dominion , where the Triceratops is barely seen while the other ceratopsians were more prominent in JW Dominion. While the Apatosaurus did receive a prominent scene in the third Jurassic World film. While in Camp Cretaceous where the Triceratops and Apatosaurus were both nowhere to be found onscreen.

Now for those saying it can't happen. Let me tell you something cool. Back when the first Jurassic Park came out. Many kids wrote letters to Steven Spielberg to include the Stegosaurus in the sequel . Since it was absent from the first film. Steven Spielberg than did that and had the Stegosaurus be in the sequel The Lost World Jurassic Park. The rest is history. So who is to say that this can't happen again. Perhaps Scott Kreamer could be open to bringing the two iconic dinosaurs and the cut dino  hybrid to a future season of Jurassic World Chaos Theory ?

However if you still it is unlikely to happen. Donating to this petition to promote it can help spread it around thus garnering more signatures.

If this happens , hopefully we can see other species before the series ends. Such as the Edmontosaurus (an underrated hadrosaur that was featured on the Jurassic World Website for the first film )and the Metriacanthosaurus ( A therapod that only appeared as an embryo back in the first Jurassic Park film and was also featured in the Jurassic World website as well). Even the lesser-known Teratephoneus and Peloroplites would be amazing species choices as well.

The timing is ripe to bring these iconic dinosaurs and the cut hybrid from the first film back into the fold to appease ardent fans worldwide. We request Universal Studios , Amblin , Netflix, ILM , and DreamWorks Animation to please consider this humble request in planning a future season or project of  Jurassic World Chaos Theory. Please sign this petition and help us in bringing these iconic dinosaurs (and cut hybrid) into the animated series before it ends.

If you are a fan of Triceratops , Apaptosaurus , the Jurassic franchise , Paleontology,  or dinosaurs in general please consider signing and sharing it to get the word out. Before Chaos Theory Season 3 comes out next year. It would be really disappointing if the iconic Triceratops and Apatosaurus never showed up Jurassic World Chaos Theory. They need to show up before any of the Biosyn species.
