Michael Power St. Joseph has a large community of young women who want change in their uniform policies. Back in 2006, uniforms were banned in the school due to misconduct. However, after 17 years, many girls have gathered to discuss the need to bring back skirts. Not only do many girls find it unfair that other schools, such as Father John Redmond and Monsignor Percy Johnson have skirts, but the excruciating heat throughout a good portion of the year makes it difficult for many girls to focus in class. The fear of rolling up skirts is widely understood amongst all young women at school, however, the overbearing heat and it’s impact on focus and health seems to be much more important than having to enforce slightly more uniform checks.
