The issue

As a lesbian myself, I find it deeply disappointing that Apple Devices do not offer a more comprehensive selection of LGBTQIA+ flags as emojis. Emojis have become an essential part of digital communication, allowing us to express our identities, emotions, and support for various communities. For many, including myself, having representation through emojis is not just about expression but is a matter of feeling seen, acknowledged, and validated.

The lack of a diverse range of LGBTQIA+ flags severely limits our ability to represent the full spectrum of our community's identities. While the general rainbow flag is widely recognized and available, other identities within the LGBTQIA+ community are often left without representation. This oversight neglects individuals who identify as bisexual, pansexual, asexual, genderqueer, non-binary, and more.

According to a study by Adobe, over 50% of global emoji users stated that they feel more comfortable expressing emotions through emojis than any other form of communication. This highlights the importance of emojis in everyday interactions and underscores the urgency of representing all identities equally.

Apple has long been a champion of diversity and inclusion. By introducing a broader range of LGBTQIA+ flags, Apple would reaffirm its commitment to inclusivity and reflect the diverse tapestry of human experience. This move would not only resonate with the LGBTQIA+ community but also with allies who support diversity and representation.

We urge Apple to work with organizations like the Unicode Consortium to prioritize the inclusion of more LGBTQIA+ flags in their emoji offerings. This addition would send a powerful message of acceptance and equality, reinforcing Apple's brand as a leader in innovation and social responsibility.

Sign this petition to encourage Apple to embrace and celebrate diversity by expanding their emoji catalogue to include more LGBTQIA+ flags. Let's make our digital communications as inclusive and vibrant as our community. Together, we can push for change and ensure everyone feels represented on their devices.
