Hello! The last time I did an update, there were 5,000 of you who signed. Thank you SO MUCH for signing and sharing. We're now at 33,000 and counting - woo! It appears that the proposed government changes to Politics A-Level are more sinister than I believed. Depending on exam boards, students had the opportunity to study a wide range of political ideologies including: feminism, liberalism, conservatism, socialism, anarchism, fascism, nationalism, ecologism and multiculturalism. The proposed A-level would remove all of these except liberalism, conservatism and socialism, what some may perceive as the 'less radical' political ideologies to study. Additionally, within the proposal, students will be exposed to the ideas of 16 key thinkers; Mary Wollstonecraft is the only woman listed under the liberalism section. Whatever the motivations are for these changes, we have to do all we can to stop them. If students are to be taught about political ideologies, they should be exposed to a wide range, and as many as possible, not just what Nicky Morgan and Ofqual deem 'acceptable'. I would urge you if you have not already done so to share your views on the syllabus change here: https://www.psa.ac.uk/psa/news/dfe-and-ofqual-now-consulting-draft-politics-level-subject-content As always, keep on sharing and get people you know to sign and share too. Together, we could actually do something to make this better. Thank you for all your support so far. -June Eric-Udorie @juneericudorie
