Keith Roma was a firefighter with the New York Fire Patrol (NYFP).

On September 11, he was dispatched to the World Trade Center with his unit. He went up into the North Tower about four times and saved around 200 people.

Sadly, he lost his life. His remains were found on Christmas Eve in 2001. He was surrounded by nine people whom he had been trying to lead to safety.

Because he was a member of the NYFP rather than the New York City Fire Department (FDNY), he is not counted among the 343 firefighters who died that day.

For the past 25 years, his father has been trying to have him officially recognized among them. Unfortunately, he has not been successful so far.
