Hello!
As I mentioned in our last update, things are moving too quickly for me to give frequent updates.
- We have made it through all 3 House committees and we are headed to the House Floor!
- We still have 2 Senate committees to get on the agenda for before we can go to the Senate Floor.
We need to get through BOTH the House and Senate in order to make it to the final step >>> Governor signs or vetoes the bill.
I know what many of you are thinking. I am right there with you. Wow, there is a LOT going on in Florida right now.
We are focused on THIS BILL and the positive impact it can make. We have been working diligently, strategically and around the clock to gain the confidence and support of all legislators. This has included trips to Tallahassee, endless calls/emails and overall determination.
Thank you to those of you who have used our TOOLKIT to help call legislators. Constituents in their district make the biggest impact, so please keep the calls going. After about 9 calls - they start to notice ;) If your legislator isn't already a co sponsor (you can check SENATE or HOUSE) please ask them to co sponsor HB 287 or SB 294.
We need more Senators on board! This will help show the Chairs of the final 2 committees that we should be placed on the agenda.
I've learned a lot about how a bill becomes a law...and it is not an easy process. However, I truly believe we can get this done.
