When I first started this petition I wanted to get 1,000 signatures.  Now I want 10,000!  There are over 18 million people in Florida, and I know more than 10,000 people want to include AAPI history in our curriculum.

It is an honor to be the state lead for Make Us Visible Florida, which is part of Make Us Visible USA, a nationwide coalition dedicated to develop a preventative solution rooted in education as a response to anti-Asian American violence.  

We deeply believe that by educating our youth in the history of Asian Americans, we can create a more inclusive Florida, where our differences are celebrated instead of feared. Where young Asian Americans can take pride in their history, and all children can learn from the triumphs and mistakes of the past. 

This initiative does not only benefit the AAPI community.  The inclusion of AAPI studies will hopefully help pave the way for the expansion of more ethnic studies in Florida.  The inclusion of AAPI studies is just the first step in a long journey to Make Us Visible.
