Every day, our children, like many others in our community, rely on the train to get to school and extracurricular activities such as swim club. However, the journey from our homes to the train station is challenging. Without a direct bus route from our area, families are forced to either drive their children to the station or let them walk 40 minutes along busy roads that lack pedestrian walkways, putting them at considerable risk.

This situation affects many students and commuters in our community. A direct bus service would provide:

• Improved safety for children and residents by offering a reliable, off-road transport option
• Reduced reliance on car drop-offs, lowering traffic and congestion
• Increased public transport use, helping our community move toward a more sustainable future

Well-connected public transport systems have been shown to improve commuter satisfaction and reduce environmental impact. In our neighborhood, a direct bus route could remove countless cars from the roads each day, improving air quality and reducing commute times.

Auckland Transport has the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in our daily lives. Implementing this route would enhance safety, efficiency, and convenience, while fostering a stronger, more interconnected transport network for our area.

We, the residents of Lumber Rise, Swanson, urge Auckland Transport to establish a direct bus route to the nearest train station or nearby community hub, such as Henderson.
