The Issue

We are Girl Scouts who love selling cookies, working as a team, and celebrating our accomplishments together. Cookie season is one of the most exciting parts of our year — we set goals, learn new skills, and share something we’re proud of with our communities.

But for one of our troop members, there’s a part of this experience she’s never been able to enjoy.

Sophia happens to have a peanut and tree nut allergy. That means while she stands beside us selling cookies, setting goals, and cheering us on… she’s never been able to safely try the cookies themselves.

This doesn’t feel like what Girl Scouts is about.

We believe Girl Scouts is about inclusion, friendship, and making sure everyone belongs. When one of us is left out, it matters to all of us. We want every girl in our troop to fully share in the experience — not just selling cookies, but enjoying them too.

Food allergies are more common than many people realize. According to Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE), about 32 million Americans — including 5.6 million children — live with food allergies. Peanut and tree nut allergies are among the most common.

We’re not asking for something impossible. Many companies and organizations already offer allergen-free options so more people can be included. We believe the Girl Scouts can do the same.

By offering a clearly labeled, completely nut-free cookie option, Girl Scouts can make cookie season safer and more inclusive for everyone. It would mean that girls with allergies wouldn’t have to sit out — they could fully participate in something they work so hard for.

As Girl Scouts, we learn to speak up, support each other, and make the world a better place. This is one way we can do that — together.

We are not asking for something unattainable, but rather for an option that's inclusive and safe for everyone. Many organizations have successfully incorporated allergen-free products into their offerings due to consumer demand. The Girl Scouts have an opportunity to lead by example and promote inclusivity, setting a precedent for other organizations to follow.

This change would not only allow Sophia and many others to taste the cookies they've so passionately sold but also send a powerful message of understanding and inclusion. It’s a chance for the Girl Scouts to enhance their commitment to making their activities accessible and enjoyable for all children, regardless of their dietary restrictions.

We’re asking the Girl Scouts of the USA to take this step toward inclusion and create a nut-free cookie option.

Please support our petition and help make sure every Girl Scout can share in the joy of the cookies we proudly sell.

We call on the Girl Scouts of the USA to take action and add a clearly labeled, completely nut-free cookie option with no cross contamination. Your signature can help make a difference for current and future generations of Girl Scouts and cookie lovers. Please sign this petition to support a safer and more inclusive environment for all!

Let's make sure every ONE can experience the joy of enjoying the cookies they sell.
