The continuous flow of vehicles, coupled with the absence of stop signs on Douglas between Alaska and El Segundo, encourages drivers to speed recklessly. This reckless driving not only jeopardizes the safety of fellow drivers but also poses risks to pedestrians, cyclists, and scooter riders.

The situation is dire: multiple accidents have occurred at this very intersection, evidence of the perilous nature of the current traffic flow. These incidents could have been preventable with better traffic management and control measures. Installing stop signs for both northbound and southbound lanes on Douglas at this intersection would slow down traffic, significantly reducing the risks of accidents and creating a safer and more navigable route for all users.
