You all are incredible. Thanks to you, we’ve hit our goal of 10,000 calls to Colorado lawmakers! In total since we started the campaign, that’s over 400 hours of call time that lawmakers have to listen to. FOUR HUNDRED.
But we’ve still got work to do. If we want the officers who killed Elijah to be fired and charged, we need to demonstrate to the public just how badly they handled the encounter with Elijah. Why did they approach him at all? Why was he put into a chokehold? Why was he injected with ketamine, and a dose much too high for his weight?
Fill out this survey if you have an experience with ketamine in the presence of law enforcement.
Ketamine is a fast-acting and powerful drug which law enforcement are increasingly using to sedate people. Its side effects include severe confusion, hallucinations, loss of bladder control, and shallow breathing. Studies show that 30% or more of patients given ketamine can require hospitalization and a breathing tube. In some cases like that of Elijah McClain, the drug can be fatal.
We want to shine a light on this disturbing trend, and surface the stories of people who’ve been injected with this drug against their will, or paramedics who’ve been asked by law enforcement to administer it.
So we’ve set up this survey. Will you take 5 minutes to fill it out? We want to know if you have been injected with ketamine or asked to administer it by law enforcement.
P.S. If you don’t fit the above criteria, will you share our survey with your friends? We need as many responses as possible.
