Insecurity, war and immigration are rapidly spreading all over Afghanistan. None of us wanted this - it is not an Afghan war. Taliban are not negotiating, and over 5000 local people are displaced and hundreds of deaths in just the last few months.

When they were first in power in 1996, Taliban didn't respect cultural heritage of Afghanistan and specifically tried to demolish Afghan music by strictly banning music in any ceremony. The punishments depended on the type of musical activity, starting from listening, attending, producing, playing and ultimately to teaching music. Teaching music was counted as the biggest crime during Taliban regime and they often carried out the ultimate punishment - execution.

The professional music instructors at Kabul University (KU) including one PHD, 4 MAs and 4 BAs, one sound technicians and over 80 students among which about 20 are girls, are very concerned about their future. There are no guarantees that by Taliban taking over the country, they will not be beheaded once again. The group also hasn't received any guarantees from the international society. This is the reason why we issue this challenge on CHANGE.ORG. Signing this petition CHANGES lives in high risk of getting terrorized.
