Disable Cross-Play on WARZONE for XBOX One

The Issue

Call of Duty: WARZONE has reached over 30 million players world wide and is available to play on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. The game utilizes a feature known as cross-play which enables player from any platform to play  and communicate with one another. While this is meant to be a feature that promotes inclusitivioty and community, the feature has discriminated players on the Xbox platform due to the restrictions in place.

In regard to the aforementioned restrictions, in order to play WARZONE on Xbox, players are required to “Enable” the cross-play feature. Whereas on PlayStation, players have the option to play WARZONE exclusively with players from the same platform by disabling the cross-play feature. Activision’s website clearly states that players have the option to “Enable/Disable” the feature, however, this is not standard for every platform and is misleading.

MAIN ISSUE: Cheating

WARZONE players on PC are able to access a variety of unfair advantages through the use of programs and hacks. These cheats give players an unfair advantage and demoralizes those who play fairly. Mainly, Xbox users are required to intertwine in lobbies with possible cheaters and do not have any options otherwise to counter against players who are cheating to win.

Activision have developed a system that allow players to report suspected cheaters and have banned approximately 30,000 players to date. However, cheating remains prominent and the reporting/penalty system in place is not enough deter these individuals. One solution to counter this is to allow users the option to “Disable” the cross-play feature and play the game exclusively with players from the same platform, a feature currently exclusive to the PlayStation platform.

Petition: Allow players from all platforms (Xbox, PlayStation, and PC) the option to enable/disable the cross-play feature in Call of Duty: WARZONE.
