Activision/Blizzard Complete Tony Hawk's 3+4 Remaster
The Issue
Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 was the first game I owned in the series, I played it repeatedly, made a custom character which made my mom laugh because it looked just like me, it was an experience more than a game.
It had very memorable levels:
- the heckling skateboarders in snowy Canada
- The funny dialogue on the Cruise Ship PA system...
- The basic complexity of the Suburbs level,
- The insanely fun grinding down escalators in the airport.
There were also staple THPS moments like knocking down hidden walls to uncover new skate areas in a lot of levels, unlocking secret characters like Darth Maul.
What stuck out most is the soundtrack! The music choices in all THPS games just engraved on my brain, songs that are forever in my head, but I honestly didn't know the bands or names of these songs; though the lyrics and and melodies are forever engrained and thankfully can be revisited on YouTube.
I have a GameCube copy, but now with updated TVs and cheap and really crappy RCA to HDMI converters that won't do the game justice; let alone digging through my parents basement hoping to find the GameCube to try to relive these memories is just out of reach.
THPS 1 + 2 rekindled a love of skateboarding that I had forgotten for 15 or so years. To relive a reimagined new but familiar world would have all Tony Hawk fans selling copies for all sorts of systems off the shelves. It would be so insane to not release THPS 3 + 4, and would allow me to play THPS4 because I never had the chance.
Activision/Blizzard should really market to this audience because we are die hard fans, brought into the world of professional skateboarding, making names like: Tony Hawk, Rodney Mullen, Bucky Lasek, etc. into household names! It shaped and defined a generation, where skateboarding was usually labeled for drug users and highschool dropouts; it actually gave purpose to so many people and shaped the future for new professional skateboarders.
